Susan Cherner has been practicing family law in Pennsylvania for over 35 years, concentrating her practice in Delaware County and Chester County.

After over 35 years of litigating divorce, custody, support and many other aspects of family law, she continues to believe that the preferred option for most parties is an amicable resolution of their disputes. Her practice includes divorce, alimony, equitable distribution and property settlements, child custody and child support, prenuptial agreements, co-habitation agreements, and various post-divorce matters. She has extensive courtroom experience, but she has a particular interest in finding creative solutions in order to help divorcing parties successfully navigate their differences and negotiate equitable settlements.

Ms. Cherner is a member of the Family Law Sections of the Delaware County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. She is a former Chairperson of the Delaware County Bar Association’s Family Law Section and has been a recipient of the Section’s Eric Turner Award. She has served as a judge pro tem in the Delaware County Family Law Division and has been a panelist and presenter of family law programs. For many years, she has been part of a group of lawyers and psychologists who have focused on numerous aspects of family law from a cross-disciplinary perspective, and she is a member of Professionals for Amicable Divorce. She has been a Top Lawyer in Main Line Today, and she has been named a “Pennsylvania Super Lawyer” by Philadelphia Magazine every year since 2007. Ms. Cherner has an AV rating, the highest rating awarded by The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating System, based on the confidential opinions of members of the Pennsylvania Bar and the Judiciary. She is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and Villanova University School of Law. Ms. Cherner is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
